Sarathkumar made his debut as an antagonist and then opted to do supporting roles, later developing himself as a top actor by delivering super hit films in lead roles. Sarathkumar earned the title 'Supreme Star' after impressing many with his performances and continues to remain energetic by keeping himself physically fit with regular exercise over the years. Sarathkumar is one of the actors who has done many dual roles and showed variations with every performance of his. 'Nattamai' - 1994

Sarathkumar played the role of a village leader in 'Nattamai', which was directed by KS Ravikumar. The star played a dual role as the brother as well and showed variations with his performances. This dual character of Sarath Kumar was strongly etched in the hearts of the audience, and the film grossed great numbers at the box office. The film also starred Vijayakumar, Kushboo, and Meena in lead roles.

'Suryavamsam' - 1997

Sarathkumar joined hands with director Vikraman for 'Suryavamsam', and he played a dual role as a father. Sarathkumar's character as an irresponsible son who converts himself as a leading businessman was well appreciated by the audience. The film achieved great success at the box office and it was remade in Telugu, Kannada, and Hindi. Sarathkumar, Raadhika and Devayani played the main roles, and the music of the film was composed by SA Rajkumar.

'Natpukkaga' - 1998

Sarathkumar played the role of a friend and servant to Vijayakumar in the film 'Natpukkaga'. He also played a dual role as a father and son in the film which was directed by KS Ravikumar. Sarathkumar played a lovable friend and a loyal servant who accepts an undone crime for the welfare of his boss' family. Sarathkumar, Simran and Vijayakumar played the lead roles, and the music of the film was scored by Deva.

'Ayya' - 2005

Sarath Kumar who tasted success by doing a dual role in several films again opted to go the same way for 'Ayya'. The star played a polite and brilliant youngster, while Nayanthara played the leading lady opposite him. This film marked Nayanthara's debut in Tamil cinema, and she matched well with the bold actor. The action drama, which was written and directed by Hari, received positive reviews, and it was later dubbed in Telugu as 'Maa Daivam Peddayana'.

'Kanchana' - 2011

After being elected as MLA, Sarathkumar played the role of a transgender woman’s spirit who wants to take revenge for her death. Sarath Kumar proved his versatility with the performance and was highly appreciated by critics and the audience. Raghava Lawrence directed the film and also played the lead role, while Lakshmi Rai, Kovai Sarala, Devadarshini, and Sriman played supporting roles.
