Rajinikanth starrer 'Jailer', which is directed by Nelson, opened well at the box office, and the film grossed over Rs 525 crores a few days ago, as officially confirmed by the makers. The third Sunday collection of the film looked super powerful after experiencing a lukewarm response for a couple of days. The latest report doing the rounds on social media claims that Rajinikanth's 'Jailer' has surpassed Kamal Haasan's 'Vikram' box office collections in Tamil Nadu. However, as per a few trade reports, 'Jailer' has grossed Rs 165 crores in Tamil Nadu, and the film needs around Rs 15 crores to surpass Kamal Haasan's 'Vikram' collections in the home state.

The overall collection of 'Jailer' is said to be around Rs 585 to 590 crores, and the film is yet to break into the 600 crore mark. Meanwhile, 'Jailer' has set a new record for a Tamil film in Kerala and Karnataka, and the domestic collection of the film is estimated to be around Rs 350 crore. Even in the third week of its theatrical run, 'Jailer' has held its screens well despite new releases.

'Jailer' features Rajinikanth as a retired cop, and the film is well packed with action, comedy, and emotions. Vinayakan played a ruthless avatar to make an impression, while Yogi Babu and Redin Kingsley rocked as usual with their timing comedies. Shiva Rajkumar, Mohanlal, and Jackie Shroff have made a short appearance, and their powerful cameos made fans go crazy in theatres. Anirudh Ravichander's music is the film's biggest plus, and the rockstar composer carries the film well on his shoulders to advance it to a greater extent.
