Sivakarthikeyan's film 'Ayalaan' kept fans waiting for over five years before its theatrical release on January 12. The science fiction drama, laden with numerous graphical frames, required an extended post-production period. Despite the prolonged anticipation, the film lived up to expectations, garnering positive reviews from both critics and audiences. Particularly resonating with kids and family viewers, 'Ayalaan' has maintained a strong presence at the box office, steadily gaining momentum since its debut. However, on the sixth day (January 17), the Sivakarthikeyan starrer experienced a decline, earning close to Rs 5 crore on a regular working day, according to trade sources.
After getting a below-average response for morning and noon shows, 'Ayalaan' witnessed an increase in occupancy for the evening and night shows on day 6. The overall collection of 'Ayalaan' is estimated to be around Rs 64 crore, and the film has become the quickest film of Sivakarthikeyan to surpass the 60 crore mark. In Tamil Nadu, 'Ayalaan' has reportedly grossed close to Rs 44 crore, and the film is expected to breach the 50-crore mark in the home state soon.
Directed by Ravikumar, 'Ayalaan' features Sivakarthikeyan in the lead role, with a comical alien character taking another main role. Rakul Preet Singh, Sharad Kelkar, Isha Koppikar, Yogi Babu, Karunakaran, Banu Priya, and Balasaravanan played vital roles, while the film had music composed by AR Rahman.
