#GoodBye2023, Aastha Gill: Looking back, I feel like I truly belong on the stage - Exclusive

The dynamic songstress Aastha Gill recently had a conversation with ETimes to unravel the melodious tapestry of her journey through 2023. From enchanting performances to personal revelations, Aastha candidly shares the highs and introspective pauses she witnessed this year.

Excerpts from the interview are as follows:

2/7

The pinnacle of 2023

In a year filled with musical highs, Aastha Gill reveals that the Coldplay concert in Barcelona stands out as the unrivaled highlight. “The highlight of 2023 was definitely the Coldplay concert I attended in Barcelona. That experience was a once-in-a-lifetime moment, and I will never forget it,” she says.

Mistakes and lessons of 2023

Reflecting on a decision that brought introspection, Aastha candidly admits to halting her performances for six months. She shares, “I stopped performing for six months. I took a break from my gigs to work on my new set. However, looking back, I feel like I truly belong on the stage, and there was no need to stop them entirely. But I’m glad to have returned to the stage sooner than later, that too with a completely revamped, new set.”

'Kyun': A personal anthem for 2023

Aastha Gill mentions her single ‘Kyun’ as the song of the year. “The song of 2023, and pardon my selfishness, is definitely ‘Kyun’ for me. I'm not saying this just because it's my own song, but I genuinely believe it offers a fresh sound and beautifully crafted lyrics. In 2023, my focus was on travel and exploring my own personality. I was in a mood to discover myself and traverse the world, and ‘Kyun’ happened to be the perfect song for that journey,” she admits.

5/7

A goal accomplished in 2023

In 2023, Aastha set her sights on professional dance training, a goal that she acknowledges as a work in progress. She says, “A goal I have been working on in 2023 is training myself in dancing. While I wouldn't say it's fully accomplished yet, I am making progress and getting better at it. I used to dance casually, but I was never professionally trained. Now, I've started my professional training, and I can see improvements. It's something I feel I've accomplished in a way this year.”

6/7

The unfinished business of 2023

While many goals were accomplished in 2023, Aastha acknowledges an unfinished chapter—the EP she had been diligently working on. “I initially planned to release the EP this year, but it has now been pushed to the next one. I am still in the process of working on it, and I hope it comes out soon,” confesses Gill.

7/7

A grateful goodbye to 2023

As the curtain falls on 2023, Aastha Gill bids farewell with a beautiful thank-you note. “My farewell to 2023 is a heartfelt thank you for teaching me so much. This year was a significant period of learning for me—I gained insights both professionally and personally. I believe it has contributed to making me a better person. Thank you so much,” she concludes.
