Punjabi actors who deserve more limelight

Like the Bollywood is ruled by the Khans and Kapoors, there are also some staple names when it comes to Punjabi cinema like Diljit Dosanjh, Gippy Grewal, Ammy Virk and so on. Though there’s no denial to the fact that these artists put all their heart and soul to make a film successful, there are some other actors who even in their supporting role turn out to be the real show stealers. Let’s take a minute to notice the contribution of hidden gems of Pollywood who deserve more limelight.
2/6

Rana Ranbir

The official ‘Shampy Puttar’ of the Punjabi cinema, Rana Ranbir is more than just a comedian. Certainly, his comic timing and expressions as a comedian can raise the bar of any comedy flick, but the artist is equally incredible when it comes to the serious genre of cinema. One of his best performances was in ‘Punjab 1984’, a period drama based on true events. Though Rana was seen portraying a supporting character, the amount of seriousness and dedication that he put into the role he played was worth noticing.
3/6

Gurpreet Ghuggi

It’s been 14 years since Gurpreet Ghuggi has been a part of Punjabi cinema. He has given amazing performances in his career span. He too is mostly known for his comedy acts and quick-cum-quirky comebacks. Recently also, in the movie ‘Raduaa’ his comic timing tickled the audience right from the trailer release. On the other hand, Ghuggi has done movies like ‘Daana Paani’ and ‘Ardaas’. His role as Master Gurmukh Ji in ‘Ardaas’ proved that whatever character Gurpreet would be given, he will essay it with finesse.
4/6

Karamjit Anmol

Another comedian who never ceases to give you a laughter dose is Karamjit Anmol. Besides being an excellent comedian, the artist is known for his amazing singing. Also, the actor was a part of comedy plays ‘Just Laugh Baki Maaf’ and ‘Naughty Baba In Town’ which were staged in Canada, America, New Zealand and Australia. So from singing to commercial acting to stage plays, everything is in favour of the thought that the artist certainly deserves more limelight.
5/6

B.N. Sharma

When you talk about effortless acting, B.N. Sharma is a name that pops up in mind. The actor is mostly seen in comedy roles. Irrespective of how over the top his character has been sketched, he balances it with his acting. At the same time, he never fails to take the audience on a hysterical ride with his amazing expressions.
6/6

Jaswinder Bhalla

“Dhillon ne kala coat aiven ni paya”, “Sali gandi aulaad, na majaa na swaad”, “Akh laal aa tan tin star ghanere aa, Inspector Joginder naal mashkarian, lagda maut nerhe-terhe aa”, these are some of the famous punch lines that make us recall some of the best works of Jaswinder Bhalla. Not every artist is born with the talent of owning someone else’s written dialogue, but Jaswinder is an exception for sure. The kind of energy that the veteran actor brings on the screen every time he is on the 70 MM is simply unbeatable. Hence, he is a perfect pick for the category.
