The trailer of Neeru Bajwa’s ‘Snowman’ to release on November 18
All the prominent actors in the film have taken to their social media handles to share the news with their character posters.
Directed by Aman Khatkar, the movie is touted to be a crime thriller. The subheading of the film reads - “The dark side of Canada”, hinting at the intensity of the story, which has been written by Rana Ranbir.
Now let’s wait till the trailer comes out tomorrow, to know more about the film.
Of late there has been a lot of buzz around the representation of Hindi and regional movies at the Oscars. Many say that over the years, it has been noticed by many that a Hindi movie is given more importance than a regional film. Speaking her mind on the very subject, filmmaker and actor Neeru Bajwa said, “Regional stars have a tight hold on the global audience, yet their work is overshadowed by the Bollywood actors.”
Scroll down to read her full interview:
“I don’t know what the process is for nomination for the Oscars. However, I am both an actor and a filmmaker and for me, the movie's content, the message, and the way it has been directed hold a lot of importance. In that sense, I believe there are several regional movies from Punjab, South, Bengal, and more that certainly deserve a chance at the awards.”
“Also, I would like to add that Hindi movies have overshadowed regional cinema's work over the years. Regional stars have a tight hold on the global audience, yet their work is overshadowed by the Bollywood actors. Further, it has been seen that publications give more preference to Hindi films, I don’t know why. But it is a hard truth.”
“I would like to answer it both as a filmmaker and a cinema lover, yes more deserving movies have been neglected many times. Having said that I would like to add that I have all the respect for the movies that have been sent to the awards over the years.”
“Rome was not built in a day,” so you see we are gradually making a place for ourselves. Of course, there is room for improvement in each department. We need to raise our production level and at the same time our efforts to be recognized at the global level. But first of all, I guess the day we will stop calling Hindi films Indian cinema and other regional films Punjabi or Tamil movies, is the day we can actually talk about a true Indian production.”
“Because we want to be known for our art, for our craft. Money can buy anything in the world, if that would have been the right path, we would have walked so many times on so many occasions. But honestly, what good would that have done?”
“True, art is subjective. For me, a movie that speaks to the audience, a movie that stays with you even hours after you leave a theatre, a movie that makes you rethink the way you look at the cinema, is a movie that should be selected for the Oscars.”
