Neeru Bajwa-Rubina Bajwa to Harbhajan Mann-Delbar Arya: New Punjabi on-screen pairs that couldn't entertain us on time owing to the lockdown

In 2020 a lot of new on-screen jodies were geared up to serve a perfect dose of entertainment. However, owing to the outbreak of Covid-19, the same couldn’t happen. There are several on-screen pairs who could not entertain us on time, and a compiled list of them is given below.

Babbal Rai and Surilie Gautam as ‘Jeeva’ and ‘Jeevan’ worked opposite the first time in the movie ‘Posti’. Directed by Rana Ranbir, the movie was supposed to make it to the theatres on March 20th. However, considering the pandemic situation, it became the first Punjabi movie to be put on hold. And thus, we could not get the chance to catch the chemistry between Babbal Rai and Surilie Gautam.

The Bajwa sisters - Neeru Bajwa and Rubina Bajwa have worked together earlier as well but as director and actor. With ‘Beautiful Billo’ they would have hit the big screen first time as co-stars. Needless to say, this very fact was the fuel that added to the anticipation of the audience. The movie was supposed to release in April, and now an update on the new release date is awaited.

2020 was supposed to be the year of Babbal Rai. He kick-started it with ‘Ik Sandhu Hunda Si’, then he was supposed to play a key role in ‘Posti’, followed by a strong character in ‘Maa’. Unfortunately, owing to the outbreak of Covid-19, first the release of ‘Posti’ was postponed, and then the shooting of ‘Maa’ was put on hold. In the latter, Babbal Rai and Aarushi Sharma were supposed to share the screen space. Both of them are playing the role of a sportsperson in the movie, and the audience was more than excited to watch them. However, they will have to wait a little longer.

If the pandemic would have not hit the world, then on May 1st, Punjabi veteran actor Jaswinder Bhalla’s son Pukhraj Bhalla would have made his debut as a protagonist with the movie ‘Teriya Meriya Hera Pheriyan’. And alongside him, Aditi Aarya would have also dipped her toe in Pollywood. The actress was very excited about the project and wanted the audience to enjoy the fresh and interesting chemistry of her and Pukhraj. But the pandemic and lockdown changed it all.

Harbhajan Mann was supposed to mark his comeback this year with the movie ‘P.R.’. Directed by Manmohan Singh, the movie was supposed to hit the big screens on May 15th. And with it, the ‘Downtown’ fame model Delbar Arya would have marked her debut. Not everyone gets to be the lucky one to make their debut opposite Harbhajan Mann. 16 years ago, Neeru Bajwa did her first Punjabi movie with Harbhajan Mann and then Delbar got the very chance. However, it seems like we will have to wait a little longer before we get to catch them on the 70mm.
