Here’s why Gippy Grewal’s ‘Subedar Joginder Singh’ is a must-watch on Independence Day

Today India is celebrating it’s 74th Independence Day. And it goes without saying that a number of sacrifices were made to get freedom in 1947 in the first place. However, keeping that freedom and making sure no one else again ever crosses Indian boundaries is a task undertaken by soldiers every day. Thus, celebrating them on Independence Day is as important as recalling our legendary freedom fighters. This is one of the reasons to watch Gippy Grewal’s ‘Subedar Joginder Singh’ on Independence Day, and the rest are listed below.

Brings the courage of Subedar Joginder Singh on 70mm

The movie was not only a war drama. It was a story that tried to bring Subedar Joginder Singh live on the big screen. Right from glimpses of him from his personal life to his determination shown at the front lines, the movie captured all with beauty. He is one of the unsung heroes of our nation, who though fought a fight after independence, only to make sure we keep enjoying it.

Highlights the sacrifices of soldiers

Besides chronicling the life events of Joginder Singh, the movie also showed how a lot of other soldiers sacrificed everything for the nation. The movie showed how each and every man of the battalion stood firm in support of their Subedar. The last men knew the Chinese army has outnumbered them, yet they didn’t back down.

Music tugs at the heartstrings in no time

Since the movie was about the life of the soldiers, the songs of the film too showed their routine and a lot of other things. The track ‘Gal Dil Di’ showed how elated soldiers feel on receiving mails from their family and loved ones, and on the other, the song ‘Hathyaar’ portrayed the determination of the army men. In short, it would not be wrong to say that every song from the movie aimed right for the heart.

Makes us feel proud about our army men

We got freedom in 1947, but we would have lost it again if our soldiers would have not stood for the nation. Though the movie showed us one war scenario, it also showed us how every day a soldier fights a number of small battles. The movie makes us realize the worth of their devotion and sacrifice. It makes us feel proud of them.
