Star friendships that turned sour

The film industry has often seen best of friends turning foes and patching up a while later. Here is a look at some of the friendships in the Marathi industry which hit a rough patch.

Riteish Deshmukh and Shreyas Talpade

Actors Ritesh and Shreyas bonded well while working in bollywood. However, just as Riteish’s debut Marathi film as an actor is on the verge of release, things turned sour for both the actors. The producer’s of Riteish’s film ‘Lai Bhaari’ declared the release date of their film as July 11 even when Shreyas Talpade had announce July 4 as the release date for his production ‘Poshter Boyz’ way back in January. Shreyas was fuming at the makers but maintained that things are just as before between him and Riteish. With everything being written about them, whether Shreyas attends the premier of ‘Lai Bhaari’ is something to watch out for.

Amruta Khanvilkar and Tejaswini Pandit

Actresses Amruta Khanvilkar and Tejaswini Pandit were known to be the best of friends in the Marathi film circle. The two had been very close since they worked together in Satish Rajwade's 2009 film 'Gaiir'. Things turned ugly between the two soon after Tejaswini’s marriage. Sources close the actresses revealed that Amruta had not been responding to her messages and phone calls like she used to before. Also Amruta didn’t visit when Tejaswini was hospitalised with dengue for over a week. Apparently Amruta and Tejaswini have not been in touch for a while and have been behaving very formal with each other. Amruta had told TOI that everything was fine between the girls and that they had no fight at all.

Guru Thakur and Ajay-Atul

Lyricist Guru Thakur and music director duo Ajay-Atul have been thick of friends for long time now. They have worked together of several successful projects like ‘Natarang’ and ‘Bhartiya’. Guru even penned the songs for Riteish Deshmukh’s debut Marathi film ‘Lai Bhaari’. Things took an ugly turn in their friendship when Guru Thakur’s name was dropped from the guest list of the music launch of ‘Lai Bhaari’. Guru took to social networking website to express his displeasure. Those close to him say that he was extremely hurt and was left teary-eyed when he got to know about the issue. Industry insiders believe that things are not merry between the Guru and Ajay-Atul.

Gauri Nalawade and Maadhavi Nemkar

Gauri and Maadhavi were part of supporting cast in the daily soap ‘Avghachi Sansar’ and soon after that Gauri got the lead role in a daily soap and Maadhavi was selected as the negative lead of the same show. The girls together were like a house on fire but troubles started arising between them after a while. Maadhavi expected to get as much screen space as Gauri on the show which didn’t go well with Gauri who believed that she, being the lead heroine of the show, should walk away with all the lime light. The girls are cordial with each other but the friendship suffered a lot.

Santosh Juvekar and Sushant Shelar

Sushant Shelar and Santosh Juvekar who had worked together in shows like 'Ya Gojirvanya Gharat' and others, were the best of buddies who would go out for late night drives and dinners. However, the friendship turned sour a few years ago and the two were not on talking terms for some years now. While Santosh was doing excellent in his career with hits like ‘Zenda’ and ‘Morya’, Sushant had a modest career graph. Sanotsh is believed to have thrown weight around which hurt Sushant. The actors recently met at the music launch of the Girish Mohite’s 'Guru Pournima' and reminisced their old days. The bitter memories aren’t forgotten but the actors are on talking terms now.
