Bollywood stars and their Marathi doppelgangers

While actors have great scripts, powerful roles and acting skills to boost their popularity, there are several who are also known more for their striking resemblance to Bollywood stars. We bring you a few of the doppelgangers.

Deepika Padukone and Deepali Pansare

While Deepika is one of the top stars in Bollywood, Deepali has made her mark on the small screen with daily soaps like 'Devyani'(Marathi serial), 'Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon', 'Dhoondh Legi Manzil Humein' and 'Saas Bahu Aur Betiyaan', among others. Deepali’s looks have been compared to Deepika’s on several occasions. “After 'Om Shanti Om' released, people started noticing that I resemble Deepika. I take it as a huge compliment since Deepika is an established actor. My biggest high was when a fan wrote to me saying that ‘Deepika resembles you’.

Sunny Leone and Manasi Moghe

Manasi Moghe (Miss Diva 2013, and represented India at Miss Universe 2013), set hearts racing when she made her debut in the Marathi film industry with 'Bugadi Mazi Sandli Ga'. And it was not just Manasi’s acting prowess that gained her popularity. The model-turned-actress has a striking resemblance to Bollywood’s Sunny Leone. Both the actors have an identical forehead and jawline, apart from big light brown eyes and a similar smile. Their non-filmi background is another common factor. Manasi said, “Many people have been comparing me to Sunny Leone. Even on the social networking platform, I’ve got similar reactions from my fans for some of my photographs, so maybe I look like her in some pictures. I think people usually draw parallels between celebrities, but it’s a nice feeling to be compared with someone who has created a niche in the industry.”

Vidya Balan and Veena Jamkar

Veena has more than just her looks in common with Vidya Balan. Apart from having similar features, both the actors have common dressing style. They both also have consciously chosen to work in
women-oriented films. Veena admitted that she feels flattered to receive compliments whenever she is compared to Vidya. “I personally like her a lot and so it is flattering,” said Veena, adding that she would love to do a film like 'The Dirty Picture'.

Varun Dhawan - Abhyangh Kuvalekar

The similarity between Abhyangh and Varun is quite uncanny. Both have the same forehead, nose, cheekbone, jaw structure and a boyish charm. Abhyangh revealed that he has been mistaken several times as Varun post the release of 'Student of The Year' ('SOTY'). He said, “After 'SOTY' released, people started congratulating me and I had to explain to them that it was not me and someone else. There have been so many instances when girls have walked up to me thinking I am Varun.” Abhyang who got an opportunity to meet Varun said that their meeting was a surreal experience. “It was like looking at a mirror image. Varun is a wonderful person and the first time we met, he told me that my features are better than his. And I feel that his physique is better than mine.” Speaking of how he does not enjoy the comparison, Abhyang added, “We all like to have our own identity.”

Shefali Zariwala - Manasi Naik

Apart from looks, we feel Manasi has a lot in common with the Kaanta Laga girl of Bollywood, Shefali Zariwala. For one, both actresses are passionate about dance and are more popular for their item songs in their respective industries. When we contacted Manasi, she said, “Usually people say that I resemble Aishwarya Rai Bachchan because both of us have light green eyes and I obviously feel proud since she is one of the most beautiful people around. Frankly, I would not like being compared with Shefali and I’m saying this with due respect to her achievements.”
