Versatile Bollywood actor Irrfan Khan passed away at the age of 53, after being admitted to Mumbai’s Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital on Tuesday, where he was under observation for colon infection.


The sad demise of legendary actor Irrfan Khan has left the nation mourning his loss. Actress Mithila Palkar who shared the screen space with Irrfan in Akarsh Khurrana's '

Karwaan

' is numb having lost a fine co-star.


Expressing her grief, Mithila said, "I am very sad hearing this news. It is heartbreaking and leaves a void that cannot be filled. We have lost one of India’s brightest lights, a wonderful, talented actor, a good human being and someone I admired deeply and was grateful to have had the opportunity to work with. I learnt so much from him while working on 'Karwaan'"



"At this time my thoughts and prayers are with his family that they find the strength to cope with this loss. May he rest in peace" Mithila added.


After the news of his demise broke, fans and his friends from Marathi and Bollywood colleagues and former co-stars including

Mayesh Manjrekar

, Amitabh Bachchan, Mrinal Kulkarni, and others took to social media to mourn the demise of the star.


A while ago, Mithila also shared a throwback picture from her film 'Karwaan' featuring Irrfan Khan. She wrote "Happy times, happier memories! Rest in peace, Sir. They don't make gems like you anymore."
