Wedding Cha Shinema

Story: Urvi (Mukta Barve), an aspiring filmmaker, wants to make films on serious topics. But to make a living and finance her dream, she is forced into making a pre- wedding film for a young couple.

Review: Wedding Cha Shinema has no unique characters or out of the box sequences. But this exploration of the contemporary concept of pre-wedding films, coupled with the hustle-bustle of wedding ceremonies and preparations, make the film pleasant.

The setting is dreamy, devoid of any fuss, and perhaps that’s the reason why it works well. While pursuing her internship in Saswad, Pari (Rucha Inamdar), the only child of a doctor couple (Sunil Barve and Ashwini Kalsekar), falls in love with Prakash (Shivraj Waichal) who owns a mobile store in the locality. Within the first few minutes of the film, their marriage is fixed and in keeping with the contemporary traditions, the families plan for a pre- wedding shoot. Enter Urvi and her team comprising of a cameraman (Bhau Kadam) and a choreographer (Tyagraj Khadilkar). As the wedding soiree and this team works together, the story unfolds in layers, the first one being the couple's journey towards the wedding, followed by an exploration of Urvi's personal life and one about Pari's parents' world.

In his directorial debut, Saleel Kulkarni has managed to deliver a complete package to the viewers. The characters are relatable and well-written. Although all the actors perform well, a special mention goes out to Pravin Tarde who essays the role of the groom’s friend, and Sankarshan, who plays Shivraj’s elder brother. Mukta, Shivaji and the lead couple - Rucha and Shivraj, have performed sincerely and do well in their respective roles. All in all, it's a light-hearted movie that you can relate to.
