Anil Johnson establishes himself again as composer in Onnum Mindathe, after Drishyam. He had composed the background score in 3 Dots and Memories, both of which were memorable. The two songs in the film,
Tha Thinantha and
Thennalin Chilanga Pole, are repeat worthy tracks. The title track,
Thennalin Chilanga Pole is a soft, lilting melody, with a melee of different instruments and subtle sounds which you might miss out if you dont listen carefully.
Vijay Yesudas effortless rendering is complemented by the female voice, which is equally melodious. The instrumental bits in the middle are a highlight of the track.
Tha Thinantha, the second song, brings out the singer in Manoj K Jayan, who is also acting in the film.
The lyrics suggest nostalgia and the singer has added a drunken touch to the rendering at certain points. The song spells energy, and even without a chorus, it achieves a boat song feel. We would definitely like to hear more from Manoj in the future.
