Mammootty - Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar

According to reports, Mammootty was initially reluctant to do the role of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar as he was a bit hesitant to shave off his moustache. After screening hundreds of actors in India, the director chose Mammootty since he felt that only Mammootty could do justice to the role. The efforts put in by the actor paid dividends as he went on to win the National Film Award for Best Actor for the role of Ambedkar.

'Pulimurugan' is one of the most anticipated films of 2016, comprising of an ensemble cast. Superstar Mohanlal has moved out of his comfort zone to get into the skin of the character. The character played by Lal is completely different and the actor has shed 6 kilos for the title role. The actor was on a strict diet as his character demanded a high level of physical engagement. And he proved it in the movie 'Apothecary,' where he went underwent an astonishing physical transformation. A true perfectionist, the actor apparently had to lose 12 kilos for the role. As part of the preparation, Jayasurya had to cut down on his salt and water intake. The performance of the actor was appreciated by both, the audience and critics alike.
