Vijayashree

The sex symbol of the ‘70s, Vijayashree committed suicide at the age of 21. According to rumours, she was constantly pestered and blackmailed by the director and producer of the film Ponnapuram Kotta. The case has not been closed and reportedly the truth of her death never came out. She was a reigning actress and a tough competition to her contemporaries like Sheela, Jayabharatha and many more. Her sudden demise shook the entire Malayalam film industry.

Silk Smitha

The Marilyn Monroe of India, Silk Smitha, who created a stir in South film industry, gave people a big shock by committing suicide in the year 1996. Reportedly, she was 35-year-old when she took this step. The sex siren was reportedly found hanging in her flat on September 23, 1996. It was even speculated that she poisoned herself as the post-mortem report showed traces of poison. Rumour has it that the failure of her career was the reason behind her decision to commit suicide.

Shobha

Beautiful actress Shobha reportedly committed suicide at a tender age of 17. She was found dead under mysterious circumstances. It was not known whether she was murdered or she committed suicide. Shobha had won the Best Actress National Film Award (posthumously) for her Tamil film Pasi. Rumours suggested that she was married to director Balu Mahendra. Director KG George made a biopic in the year 1983 named Lekhayude Maranam Oru Flashback, which was based on Shobha's life.

Sreenath

Ex-husband of actress Shanthi Krishna was found dead in a hotel room in Kothamangalam, Kerala where he was shooting for a film in the year 2010. Reportedly, his wrist was slit and the bleeding must have been the cause of death. However, it was not confirmed whether he was murdered or he committed suicide. Sreenath's last film was one of the short films title Makal from the film Kerala Café (2009) directed by Revathy. Reportedly, he was 53 when he died.

Santhosh Jogi

Rajamanikyam actor Santhosh Jogi was found dead on April 13, 2010 at his friend's flat in Thrisshur. He reportedly hanged himself till death. Rumours suggested he took such big decision of ending his life due to some family issue. His last film was Christian Brothers released in the year 2010. He shot to fame by playing a negative role in Rajamanikyam. He has acted with top stars like Mohanlal and Mammootty. Some of his big films include Balram v/s Taradas (2006), Keerthichakra (2006), Mulla (2008), Pokkiri Raja (2010) and Big B (2007).

Mayoori

Actress Mayoori had acted in quite a few films in South Indian languages. Out of the 20 films she did, some of them were quite memorable ones. According to IndiaGlitz.com, the 22-year-old actress hung herself to death in the year 2005. She left a suicide note that stated that she does not have any reason to live further, that's why she is taking such decision. Rumour has it that failure, tragic love life and unhappiness from the industry led to her demise.
