Malayalam actors who have married more than once

Marriage is a beautiful institution. However, sometimes there is trouble in paradise and individuals part ways to lead independent lives. With the actors' hectic schedules and crazy lifestyles, it is no wonder that the rate of divorces in the film industry is quite high. Let's take a look at some of the divorces that rocked the Malayalam film industry...

Jagathy Sreekumar

Jagathy was earlier married to actress Mallika Sukumaran. However, the couple parted ways in 1979. According to reports, Jagathy stated in an interview that Mallika had used him as a stepping stone for her career. The actor remarried Shobha in 1984. Reportedly, Jagathy Sreekumar also has another daughter but has never divulged the details. However, he has apparently confessed that he takes care of all her expenses. Speculations were rife that he was in a relationship with junior artist Kala, while he was still legally married to Shobha. However, there is no evidence to support the claims.

- Aishwarya Vasudevan

Actress Ambika married NRI Shinu John in 1988 and migrated to USA. They have two sons, Ramkeshav and Rishikesh. However, the couple got divorced in the year 1998 and Ambika came back to India to resume her acting career. She went on to marry actor Ravikanth in the year 2000. However, this marriage, too, ended in a divorce in 2002. Currently, Ambika resides in Chennai.

Actress Sheela was married to a Chennai-based journalist, Xavier. However the marriage ended in divorce. Sheela, who along with actor, Prem Nazir, holds a Guiness record for acting in largest number of films together as a couple, reportedly had a turbulent personal life. She later married Tamil actor, Ravichandran, who passed away in the year 2011. They have a son, George (Vishnu), who is a popular Tamil TV actor. Sheela and Ravichandran also eventually parted ways.

Shanthi Krishna married Malayalam actor Shreenath, in the year 1984 and divorced him in the year 1995. Reportedly, Shreenath was found dead in his flat on April 22, 2010. Shanthi Krishna is currently married to S. Bajore, director of Rajiv Gandhi Group of Institutions. They have two children, Mithul and Mithali. The actress has kept herself away from the limelight and resides in Bengaluru currently.

Manoj K. Jayan was married to National Award-winning actress, Urvashi, in the year 2000. However, their marriage took an ugly turn when Manoj K. Jayan allegedly claimed that Urvashi was a drunkard and divorced her in the year 2008. Even during the court proceedings, Urvashi was reportedly spotted drunk. They have a daughter, Tejalakshmi, who lives with Manoj. The actor then married Asha in the year, 2011. They have a son, Amrit. Urvashi went on to marry Chennai-based building company-owner, Sivaprasad, in the year 2013. The couple was blessed with a baby boy in August 2014.

Sai Kumar and Prasanna Kumari were reportedly a part of the same drama troupe until they married in the year 1988. However, Sai Kumar filed for a divorce on grounds of being cheated by his wife. He claimed that his wife was six years elder to him and had lied to him about her age before the wedding. After a long legal battle, the couple got divorced in the year 2008. Sai Kumar then got married to Malayalam actress, Bindu Panicker, after his divorce. Bindu Panicker was married to a successful businessman, Biju V. Nair, who died of a heart-attack in the year 2003. They have a daughter, Arundhati.

Mukesh married his 'Thaniyavarthanam' co-star, Saritha, in the year 1988. They have two sons, Shravan and Tejas. The couple filed for divorce in the year 2007. According to reports, Saritha had accused Mukesh of bigamy. Speculations were rife that Mukesh had married dancer, Methil Devika, without legally divorcing Saritha. According to rumours, Saritha even stated that she has no problem with Mukesh starting a new life, but she says that he should have ended their relationship of 25 years in a much more decent manner.

The actor-politician got married to Bindhu Menon, the marketing head of a Malayalam channel in the year, 2014.
