What is the connection between Mohanlal's Marakkar and Barroz?

Mohanlal has two massive projects getting ready. One is his acting venture titled

Marakkar

: Arabikadalinte Simham and the other is his directorial debut titled

Barroz

.

Both the films incidentally have a lot to do with the Portuguese. While Marakkar has him playing the Zamorin naval chief Kunjali Marakkar who fought against the

Portuguese

in the late 16th century, Barroz is based on the myth of a Portuguese sentinel who protects Vasco Da Gama’s treasure till the latter’s true heir comes to claim it.

Mohanlal has finished the shoot of Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham and is expected to start work on his directorial by the end of this year.
