In an interview with Rekha Menon, Vidya Balan said that the Malayalam actress Urvashi is her all-time favorite actor. She further criticized Hindi cinema for its lack of well-written comedy roles for women in the industry. The ‘Urumi’ actress also shared praises for the Malayalam’s versatile actor Fahadh Faasil.

Vidya Balan further said in the interview that the actors Urvashi and Sridevi handle comedy effortlessly and this kind of easiness in stepping into comedy roles is lacking in actresses lately.

Sharing her praise for the ‘Aavesham’ star Fahadh Faasil, Vidya Balan said, “I love the work Fahadh is doing. So many of them.” Vidya Balan also mentioned the actor-director Basil Joseph and Anna Ben and said that she loves their works.

Expressing her interest in doing comedy roles, Vidya Balan said that she is willing to explore Malayalam cinema if she is offered good roles.

In an interesting fact, Vidya Balan was supposed to make her Malayalam debut with Mohanlal in AK Lohithadas’ directorial ‘Chakram’ which unfortunately got shelved. ‘Chakram’ was released with a fresh cast including Prithviraj Sukumaran and Meera Jasmine in the lead.
