The past week was nothing short of a packed entertainer, for Malayalam cinema. From some interesting collaborations to some shocking incidents, a lot of news came out from M-Town. From Shamna Kasim announcing her engagement to Tovino Thomas teaming up with Dr. Biju, and sexual assault accused Vijay Babu landing in Kerala, after a month of absconding, here’s a quick recap of who and what made headlines in Malayalam cinema in the past week.

After a month of absconding, actor-producer Vijay Babu returned to Kerala, on June 1. Following his arrival, he was interrogated by the police apropos the sexual assault case, filed by a budding Malayalam actress on April 22. Vijay Babu, reportedly stated that the sexual intercourse was consensual, and the actress had filed the case, after she was refuted a role in his film.

Actress-dancer Shamna Kasim announced her engagement via social media. In her latest social media post, Shamna Kasim wrote, “Stepping to my next part of life,” sharing a picture with her fiance Shanid Asifali, who is an entrepreneur in UAE. The couple will be getting hitched soon.

Actors Tovino Thomas, Nimisha Sajayan, and Indrans will be headlining acclaimed filmmaker Dr. Biju’s next titled ‘Adrishya Jalakangal’. The makers launched the first look poster, and as per the reports, the film is touted to be an anti-war film. ‘Adrishya Jalakangal’ is mounted on a massive budget and, the film will start rolling soon.

Actor Asif Ali, who was filming for his upcoming movie ‘A Ranjith Cinema’ met with an accident on the sets. While performing an action sequence, he suffered a leg injury and was taken to the hospital. The actor was shooting for the climax sequences, and post the injury, he took a brief hiatus.
