The past week was full of light, for Malayalam cinema. Yes, the movie stars celebrated Diwali, but along with it, there were also some exciting updates. From Aishwarya Lekshmi’s ‘Kumari’ hitting the cinemas, to Tovino Thomas completing 10 years in cinema, and Dileep launching the first look poster of his superhero film ‘Parakkum Pappan’, here is a list of who and what made headlines in M-Town this week.

​Shane Nigam in ‘Corona Papers’

Shane Nigam will be headlining Priyadarshan’s upcoming film titled ‘Corona Papers’. The team kickstarted the shoot this week. The film went on floors in Kochi, and the team has begun filming. Gayathrie Shankar has roped in to play the leading lady. Sidhique and Shine Tom Chacko will be seen playing some pivotal roles in the film.

​10 years of Tovino Thomas

Tovino Thomas completed 10 years in cinema this Wednesday (Oct 26). His debut film ‘Prabhuvinte Makkal’ clocked 10 years since its release. “Today, my thanks is towards EVERYONE who has played any part in my whole life, and not just in these 10 years. I believe each day has been an achievement because I was able to move forward. 10 years is of course special, but I sincerely hope there is more road ahead, more to grasp and deliver back to my dear folks. Keep the love coming. I’ll give my best to you, in return,” he said.

​Aishwarya Lekshmi’s ‘Kumari’ hits the big screen

Aishwarya Lekshmi starrer ‘Kumari’ has hit the big screens this Friday (Oct 28). The mythological horror thriller has managed to bring in the audience. Though the film’s story is quite ordinary, the makers were successful in creating a universe, that is intriguing and providing the audience with a visual treat.

​Dileep in ‘Parakkum Pappan’

Dileep turned 55 this week, and on his birthday several updates regarding his upcoming films came out, along with ‘Parakkum Pappan’. Helmed by Viyaan Vishnu, ‘Parakkum Pappan’ is touted to be a superhero film. The film tells the story of Pappu, a simpleton who gets the power to fly. The first look poster was launched this week, and Dileep also confirmed that the film will start rolling soon.
