In a shocking turn of events, former External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj breathed her last on the night of August 6 at AIIMS, Delhi. She was rushed to the hospital following a cardiac arrest. She is survived by her husband and daughter.
She was the second woman to head foreign ministry after Indira Gandhi. Sushma Swaraj took up the position of External Affairs Minister in the first cabinet of Modi Government in 2014.A seven-time MP, Sushma Swaraj did not contest the 2019 Lok Sabha elections and chose to sit out of the government this year on account of her health. She is also the prominent face of representation of women in Indian politics.
