Suraj Venjaramoodu to act in a Tamil film

At a time when many of M-Town's artistes are trying their luck in other South Indian industries, National Award Winner Suraj Venjaramoodu too is all set to widen his prospects.
The Perariyathavar actor is debuting in Kollywood soon in a comic thriller with elements of horror, directed by Chandramohan. The movie is titled Konjam Nadinga Boss.
About Suraj's character, Chandramohan reveals, 'His character is named Rajinihaasan, an amalgamation of Tamil superstars Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan.An acting aficionado, he believes that he possesses Rajinikanth's style factor and the acting prowess of Kamal Haasan. Unlike others who go around seeking chances in films, sharing photos and profiles with production houses, he goes straight to locations like Pollachi. He meets up directors and canvasses them for roles. Rajinihaasan will be portrayed as a stylish character.' Interestingly, the director zeroed in on Suraj for the role as the actor shouldering it has to be good at enacting both comedy and shades of grey. 'It's a character like those immortalised by actors like Devan in various movies. It also has to contribute to the horror mood of the movie.'
Suraj says he chose to do the film as he found the story impressive. 'I decided to go for it as I was smitten by the character and story. It's the story of three youngsters and is also centred on a palace. Moreover, the director is a Malayali, who hails from Palakkad.' When asked why he didn't spread his wings to explore other industries so far, the actor says, 'What matters to me is being part of good films and doing meaty roles. I was never that keen to step outside Malayalam neither did I have a plan to eventually do it. This project just happened, that's all. Even when the offer came my way, I first said 'Let me see.' But the positive factors about it pushed me to take it.'
Prashant Punnapra, who is famous as Ayyappa Baiju, also plays a prominent role in the movie. Naan Kadavul fame Rajendran and other renowned Tamil actors like Swaminathan, Mayilsamy and Jayaprakash are also part of the cast.
