‘RDX’: Reasons why the film sets the standard for upcoming Mollywood action thrillers

After a series of realistic films, the Mollywood film industry has finally realized that it can only pull the audiences into the theatres with large-scale movies, specifically massy action entertainers, and is slowly taking its baby steps into the genre. With the success of the recently released action flick, ‘RDX’, the director Nahas Hidayath has actually set a benchmark for all the upcoming action films, and here are the reasons why the film is a game changer in the Malayalam film industry.

Emotional connection

Movie buffs usually complain by saying that a high-voltage action flick like ‘John Wick’ won’t be happening in the Malayalam film industry because of the wrong mindset of the audiences here. ‘RDX’ proves it differently and establishes the fact that any story will work well for the audiences if it emotionally connects with them. The starting scene of ‘RDX’ itself gets the audiences glued to their seats and they start to feel along with the lead characters and supporting casts.

Story matter?

Having a great storyline matters for any movie, but for an action film, the situation is something different. Taking the case of ‘RDX’, the film doesn’t boast of a big storyline and in fact delivers a simple one. There are several advantages that can happen when a director chooses a simple storyline for an action film as it allows the audiences to get completely immersed in its action sequences without losing any interest as they digest a big storyline presented before them.

All elements in place

‘RDX’ is the perfect example of executing a commercial action film that would even appeal to family audiences. With the perfect inclusion of songs, emotions, family sentiments, and action, ‘RDX’ surely impressed both youngsters and family audiences.

Utilizing the actors

Usually, the Malayalam film industry is criticized for actors who don’t have a mass appeal enough to carry out big action flicks. ‘RDX’ is literally a tight slap to such arguments as the small-scale actors Shane Nigam, Antony Varghese and Neeraj Madhav shine in their roles with perfect elevation sequences, despite having any stardom. It all matters with good direction rather than any other aspects.
