Producers won't let me cast newcomers, says Joshiy

Take a look at hit filmmaker Joshiy���s long list of films and it becomes evident that the director has been continuously working only with Mollywood superstars for the last 25 years. Except for last year���s Sevenes, which starred Kunchacko Boban and Asif Ali, and 2009���s Robinhood, which had Prithviraj and Narain, the ace director is undoubtedly the industry���s go-to guy when it comes to big-budget, superstar-driven, commercial fares featuring Mammootty, Mohanlal, Dileep and Suresh Gopi. However, Joshiy says that his usual tryst with superstar movies was never planned as he has always been open to working with young actors. ���I don���t demand to work only with superstars,��� he says. ���It just happens that producers always approach me with such projects. They come to me with the idea that they want a film with Mohanlal (such as Narasimham) and are willing to shell out only for those type of projects.��� The director adds, ���I want to work on films with newcomers, but ultimately, producers should back me up for such projects.��� On his latest flick Run Babby Run with Mohanlal, Joshiy says that he doesn���t understand the hype about the film being a new-generation flick without any superstar elements. ���I don���t classify any of my movies as being a new-gen or a superstar-driven film. My films are synonymous with being entertainers for the masses and I���m hoping this film too lives up to the expectation,��� he says.While Joshiy talks of his interest of doing films with young actors, the director also points out that he has blocked his dates for his next three projects ��� with Dileep, Jayaram and Mohanlal again.���My next project should be Dileep���s Walayalar Paramasivam, which we���ll begin shooting in November. We have zeroed in on a plot and the scripting will begin soon,��� says the hit filmmaker, adding that he may also work on the Jayaram starrer if the actor���s dates fall in place.
