The film Pathemari has been widely appreciated by the audience for the apt depiction of trials and tribulations of Malayalis living in the Gulf. Actor Mammootty's portrayal of Pallickal Narayanan in the film was such that it left the viewers teary eyed.
The film, which is directed by National Award winning Saleem Ahamed, has made its way to the 9th Muscat International Film Festival (MIFF) in the competition section.

The biennial festival will see Arab celebrities and foreign actors including the Indian superstar Shah Rukh Khan, who will present workshop at the film fest.
