Namrata to debut in M-Town as Vijay Babu's wife
Vyasan K P's upcoming Malayalam film
The character is someone who was born in Bangalore and does business in Canada. We were particular that the character should dub for herself and such a person would naturally speak a mix of English and Malayalam. English, Konkani, Portugese, Malayalam and Hindi all find a place in the film. We felt Namrata suited the role,' he says. The film is entirely set in Goa and the character boldly interacts with police officers and other high officials, he adds. 'We wanted a fresh face as well, not a familiar one.'
Namrata plays Vijay Babu's wife in the film. 'While she has a business bent of mind in her personal life as well, Vijay Babu's character is a writer. She is a strong-willed woman and clashes occur,' says the director.
Meanwhile, Namrata, who has done nearly 10 films in Marathi, is all excited about her debut in Mollywood, which amazes her as she learns more about it, she says. 'I recently watched the film Charlie and just loved everything about it. I can't believe I'm going to work in the same industry. I'm learning a bit of Malayalam for the film and am glad I will be acting with some respected actors.'
The most interesting aspect about Ayal Jeevichirippundu is that it is based on two living individuals, adds Vyasan. 'Only 20% is imagination. But we can't reveal who they are.' Shoot for the film will begin in October.
Ayal Jeevichirippundu
has a heroine now ' Marathi actress Namrata Gaikwad. The makers considered several actresses for the role, before zeroing in on Namrata. The reason for picking her, says the director, is that they needed someone who suited the character of a 'strong-willed, well-travelled, businesswoman'.New Year Special
