Most of the Mollywood actors are multifaceted. From proving their finesse in filmmaking to being entrepreneurs, M-Town celebs have exhibited various talents over the course of time. But did you know that most of your favourite Malayalam actors including Mammootty, Mohanlal, and Jayaram are farmers too? Yes, that’s right. Despite their tight schedules and busy lifestyle, they have tried to stay close to nature. From Mammootty’s fruit garden to Jayaram’s organic farming and dairy farm here’s a list of Mollywood celebs who tried their hands on farming.

​Actor Krishna Prasad

Krishna Prasad, who marked his debut in Mollywood with the 1988 film 'Moonnampakkam' has acted in over 100 films. The actor decided to give farming a try during 2007. He was drawn towards agriculture and decided to spend more time on it. From paddy to vegetables, Krishna Prasad farms it all and he has even won the Kerala State Award for the best farmer.

Jayaram

Jayaram believes in the magic of nature and soil. The actor always tries to stay close to nature and farming has always been his hobby. The actor always made headlines for his terrace cultivation and he also has a dairy farm in Malayattoor, Kerala. The actor not only supervises his dairy farm but also tries to spend every bit of his free time with the cows, feeding and cleaning them.

​Mammootty

Ever wondered about the secret of Mammootty's youthfulness? Well, they say 'You are what you eat,' and Mammootty is very specific about what he intakes. The actor practices natural farming and grows most of his fruits and vegetables. During the lockdown, when many of them were busy following the trends of making dalgona coffee and baking cakes, Mammootty used his time to grow fruits in his home garden. He even harvested some sundrop fruits from his garden during the time.

​Mohanlal

Mohanlal has always been a proud farmer. “Farming is the greatest art form of all," Mohanlal once wrote in his blog. During the onset of the pandemic, the actor too was confined to his house and he used the time to grow some veggies on his terrace. The actor’s organic farming also made headlines. From okra to cow beans, Mohanlal has grown everything by himself in his home garden.

​Joju George

The pandemic has cut the rat race for many and also gave them time to think about sustainable living. Malayalam actor Joju George found the importance of building an eco-friendly environment. The actor invested his time to produce homegrown vegetables including eggplants, lady's finger, bitter gourd, cowpea, tomato, amaranthus, and varieties of beans in his garden. The actor also found interest in cattle rearing.
