Mammootty’s ‘Bheeshma Parvam’ teaser decoding: Hidden details you might have missed

In 2007, Malayalam cinema witnessed a new style of filmmaking, that came on par with any Hollywood movie, through the Amal Neerad directorial film ‘Big-B’. The movie gained a cult following among the audience and the superstar Mammootty’s character Bilal John Kurishingal went right into the books of the most iconic characters in Malayalam cinema. Now, in the year 2022, fans will witness the most awaited team-up of the renowned director Amal Neerad and Mammootty through the film ‘Bheeshma Parvam’. Recently the makers released an intriguing teaser for the film and the fans were enthralled to watch Mammootty in his tough look. Here let's take a look at some of the hidden details from the teaser that you might have missed.

Bhishma- The warrior who defied death

From the title ‘Bheeshma Parvam’ it's understandable that the film will have close references to the epic book Mahabharata. There are instances from the teaser and title design itself that Mammootty’s character Michael will be equal to Bhishma Pitamah from Mahabharata. Anyone who has read Mahabharata knows very well that Bhishma Pitamah was a character who had both positive and negative qualities in him as he has both helped Kauravar during the wartime and followed the path of ‘Dharma’. Likewise, Mammootty’s Michael character will also have both good and evil in him. Also when you look closely at the title design, you can see a group of arrows in the bottom portion, which is a close reference to the death of Bhishma Pitamah in Mahabharata

An easter egg

We have already pointed out that the character Michael will have a close reference to Bhishma Pitamah from Mahabharata, who followed ‘Dharma’ or righteousness in life. When you look at the teaser closely, you can see a pack of Law books placed behind Michael. Through these law books, the director may be referring to ‘Dharma’.

Fight scene

One of the notable scenes in the teaser was this fight scene between Mammootty and a group of thugs. In the background, we can notice safety jackets, and life rings attached to the wall. Although the insides don't look like the interior of a ship, this could mean that the fight is happening in an area that is close to the sea or a marine export. Also as per the summary provided in other news websites, Michael is a former gangster turned maritime transporter hailing from Fort Kochi.

Presence of Farhaan Faasil and Shine Tom Chacko

In the teaser fight scene, you could see two persons accompanying Michael as he moves forward to fight a group of thugs. In this fight scene, it's clearly visible that the actors Shine Tom Chacko and Farhaan Faasil are the ones who are assisting Michael in fighting off the thugs. Shine Tom Chacko has also said in an interview with an online media that he is playing a character that is close to Mammootty in ‘Bheeshma Parvam’.

Shivankutty

Before the release of the teaser, the makers released a series of character posters for the film. One among them was the character Shivankutty played by the actor Abu Salim. Now coming to the teaser, during the end portions Mammootty’s character Michael says the dialogue. “Shivankutty, they are from Bombay, so we need to speak to them in Hindi.” From this dialogue, it's understandable that Abu Salim’s character Shivankutty will be working alongside Michael in the film.
