Recently, reports surfaced on social media and a few online sites that director Aashiq Abu’s Mayanadhi was funded through illegal means, linking it to those accused in the ongoing gold smuggling case in Kerala. However, the film’s producer Santosh T Kuruvilla on a social media post rubbished these reports.
“I don’t understand on what grounds some politicians and social media portals are propagating such false reports,” wrote the NRI businessman, who co-produced the movie with Aashiq.

“Maayanadhi was completely producing using money from my account. All central and state taxes concerning the project have also been properly paid. I have not borrowed any sum to produce this film from anyone.”
