Lal Jose casts Anoop Menon in a complex character in his film
Anoop Menon’s performance as a jealous and competitive policeman in Lal Jose’s Vikramadityan earned the actor a State Award a few years ago.
The actor is hoping for a repeat of that in his upcoming film with the director, which has Mohanlal in the lead.
In the film, Anoop says, Lal Jose has created a “complex character” for him. “Working with Lal Jose is always an enriching experience. I have seen him conjure something great from an ordinary script. He elevates the film through his shots and the way he handles his actors. So, when he offered me this character, I didn’t have to think twice,” he says.
However, the actor is tight-lipped about his role in the yet-to-be-titled film, which is scripted by Benny P Nayarambalam. “That would reveal the plot,” he says. “I can tell you the presentation of the story is different. The characters played by Lalettan and me complement each other.”

“We share a good chemistry. I started my screenwriting with him through Pakal Nakshatrangal, which is one of his favourite films. However, my role in this film is not a comic one and is completely different from what I have done in Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol and Kanal,” says Anoop, adding that he would join the sets of the film on May 15.
The movie also has Anna Rajan and Sarath Kumar of Angamaly Diaries fame as well as Priyanka Nair. Mohanlal will be seen as a college vice principal in the film.
