Mohanlal’s highly anticipated action thriller ‘L2: Empuraan’, directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran, is gearing up for a massive release on March 27. The latest reports indicate that the film will be screened in 700 out of the 777 available screens across Kerala, making it one of the biggest releases in the state’s history.
According to the Twitter handle of movie analyst Mohammed Ihsan, who shared the update on social media, Empuraan will dominate theatre screens across the state, further fueling expectations among fans.
Meanwhile, the makers are keeping the excitement alive by unveiling character posters. Recently, Mohanlal introduced Baiju Santhosh’s character, Murukan, on his X handle. Sharing the update, he wrote, “Character No.18 Baiju Santhosh as Murukan in #L2E #EMPURAAN,” along with a YouTube link featuring Baiju Santhosh discussing his role.
In the video, Baiju Santhosh reflected on his character from Lucifer, emphasizing its significance. “I don’t think anybody has forgotten the movie Lucifer and its characters, especially Stephachayan and Murukan. Murukan was a character I truly enjoyed portraying. And after a long gap of five years, we are reuniting once again through Empuraan,” he said.
He also expressed his gratitude to the core team behind the film. “I would like to thank Mohanlal, Antony Perumbavoor, Prithviraj, Murali Gopy, Sujith Vassudev, and associate director Vava. As Empuraan arrives as Malayalam cinema’s biggest film, Murukan is also making his return. And of course, with a touch of ‘decency,’” he added.
On the last day, the makers also shared the character look poster for Saniya Iyappan who will be reprising the role of Jhanvi in the second part. In the video shared by the team, Saniya said that she feels fortunate to be part of the team and in ‘L2: Empuraan’, her character is more mature than the first part where she was a teenager.
