It is not often that an actor gets so moved during a scene that the director is forced to say cut. But that is what happened during the shoot of Dr Biju’s Valiya Chirakulla Pakshikal, which has the plight of endosulphan affected children as its theme.
The crew worked with real victims for the shoot, and on seeing them, its lead actor
Kunchacko Boban was moved to tears. “It is rarely that I have come across such an incident. Kunchacko is an emotional person and he couldn’t control his emotions when he saw the children. We had to stop the shoot for a while,” says Dr Biju. Not just the actor, the entire crew was deeply affected by the plight of the victims. This is the first time Dr Biju is working with Kunchacko, but the director says he felt very comfortable working with him.
The film is being shot in four schedules, to capture four seasons — the monsoon, spring, summer and winter. The monsoon episode was shot in June, and the crew is in Kasargode now to shoot the second season, spring. “It is indeed spring, with flowers blooming everywhere. Summer will be shot in March, and winter in December. The last schedule will be in Canada,” says Dr Biju.
