Kerala, often referred to as "God's Own Country," is celebrating its 67th birthday today, November 1, 2023. Kerala Piravi, which means "Kerala Day," marks the birth of the state of Kerala, which was officially formed on this day in 1956. The state of Kerala has kicked off the celebrations with ‘Keraleeyam’, a week-long celebration that will be held from November 1 to November 7 in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, by the state government. Cabinet ministers, diplomatic representatives of the UAE, South Korea, Norway, and Cuba, film stars Kamal Haasan and Mohanlal, and prominent industrialists participated in the inaugural programme of the festivities.
This auspicious occasion is a time of immense pride and joy for every Keralite, and the state's celebrities, including superstars Mohanlal and Shobana, joined in the celebrations, extending their heartfelt wishes to the people of Kerala.
Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan extended wishes on the occasion. In his post on X (formerly Twitter), he said, “Today marks the 67th anniversary of the formation of the state of Kerala." Modern Kerala was constructed through the organised struggles of the working class and peasantry, who steadfastly upheld the ideals of the national movement and the Renaissance movement. On this occasion, let's commit ourselves to taking Kerala to new heights and safeguarding its status as a beacon of democracy and secularism. Heartwarming Kerala Piravi wishes to every Keralite across the world.”
Superstar Mohanlal, who took part in the Keraleeyam, took to his social media handle to extend wishes on the day. He dropped a photo of him decked up in Kerala attire and said, “Heartfelt Kerala Piravi wishes to all the Malayalis.”
National award-winning actress Shobana also participated in the Keraleeyam event and dropped a photo from the event on the special occasion.
