I've had enough of supporting roles: Mallika
The year looks promising for actress Mallika, who has signed up not one but two Mollywood films which will see her in lead roles. The actress has been paired opposite Jayaram in Shaji Kailas' Ginger. She also plays one of the leads in Sangeeth Sivan's women-centric movie, along with Dhwani.
Mallika, who has done mostly supporting roles in Mollywood and Kollywood, says it has been a conscious decision not to do supporting roles.

'I am still getting a number of offers for such roles. However, I felt I've had enough of it and should do something better,' says the actress, whose performance in the movie, Byari, won her a Special Mention from the Jury at the 59th National Film Awards.
'I would be choosing more lead roles from now on. I feel I took the right decision at the right time,' says Mallika. The actress is quite excited about her role in Ginger. 'I play Devika, a woman who runs a construction company. It is a powerful role which I've not done so far in my career. All thanks to Shaji Sir for giving me an opportunity to break away from the stereotype roles that I've been playing so far,' says the actress.
In Sangeeth Sivan's road movie, Mallika appears in two different looks. 'The movie traces my transformation from a village belle to a confident woman. You can actually see my drastic makeover in it! It is a prominent role and I feel lucky to have bagged an opportunity to be part of a big banner film with industry stalwarts like Sangeeth Sivan,' she says.
Meanwhile, the actress has signed yet another lead role in a Kollywood movie. 'It is also an interesting role. Though, it is too early to talk about it,' she signs off.
