'Divorce' is an upcoming Malayalam movie directed by Mini IG
There is no such thing as a ‘female’ filmmaker. A filmmaker is a creator and gender hardly matters there. But the cinephiles have often witnessed magic happening in all its glory when women don the cap of a director.

In an exclusive conversation with ETimes, Shiba Fara shares that the director itself was one of the reasons why she said yes to the film ‘Divorce’.Women narrating the story of women have always resulted in the right representation and Shibla Fara’s upcoming movie ‘Divorce’ is expected to present the same. The movie unravels the life of four women, from different social circumstances facing divorce. Shibla is essaying one of the lead characters Noorjahan in the movie. The actress confesses that she always wanted to work with a team that is headed by a woman. “The director itself is one of the best parts of the team. I remember her approaching for the role. Instead of sending me my part, she asked me to go through the entire script. Mini IG is the biggest reason I said yes to ‘Divorce’,” Shibla Fara said. The actress shared that the debutant filmmaker was very professional and also had clarity about everything. “She is so hardworking and dedicated. Even before joining the set, I used to call her to know more about my character. I was eager to know how Noorjahan’s mannerisms are, what she wears on a normal day, at what age she became a mother and much more. Our director was patient to attend all my queries and helped me out to understand my character in depth. As she has also done theatre after graduating from FTII, she used to enact the scenes while describing it,” Shibla added.
