Post Dr Biju’s critically-acclaimed Veettilekkulla Vazhi and Aakashathinte Niram, the director is having troubles starting his next project, Thannal Tharaatha Marangal, even though it was scheduled to begin earlier this year. The director had earlier told us that
Jayasurya,
Salim Kumar and
Mallika would star in the film that tells the story of two sweepers of Kochi Municipality, with vagabonds, street hawkers, local tribes and their children as the rest of the characters.
On why the film is being delayed, a source close to the director, on condition of anonymity, tells us, “Despite giving the nod earlier, certain actors have expressed their reservation to play sweepers and vagabonds in the movie as it would negatively affect their image.” While Dr Biju doesn’t deny or agree with the claims, he informs us that he is on the lookout for new actors to play the parts and that casting will begin soon.
“We are also waiting for a new co-producer of the movie, which is one of the reasons why it is being delayed. Once it is confirmed, we will begin the casting process again,” says Biju, adding that there was also few scheduling conflicts that has forced some artistes to opt out from the movie.
