Bhavana Menon meets Sunita Williams: ‘This moment gonna be etched in my brain forever’
Over the moon would not be an exaggeration to describe how actor Bhavana Menon feels right now! The ‘Anomie’ actor found herself standing alongside retired NASA astronaut Sunita Williams at the Kerala Literature Festival in Kozhikode.
Bhavana, a guest at the opening ceremony of KLF, met Sunita Williams and has now shared a surreal moment from the experience on Instagram. She shared a photo of shaking hands with the astronaut on her Instagram story, and captioned it, “The one and only Sunita Williams.”
In an emotional note, Bhavana said, “This moment gonna be etched in my brain forever! Indian origin NASA astronaut Sunita Williams has retired from her illustrious 27-year career. On Wednesday, NASA announced that the retirement took effect at the end of December 2025. Now 60, Williams has completed three missions aboard the International Space Station (ISS) and set multiple records in human spaceflight.
During her address at the KLF, Williams said that science and spirituality go hand-in-hand. She spoke about how every individual being is a miracle in themselves. “And there has got to be a greater power that allowed all of us to be here today, to be here every single day on this planet. So, I don't think it is separate and it is okay to think about spirituality; it's okay to think about science. All of that goes hand in hand when you have the ability to see the greatness of the planet," she said when asked whether she was a believer and why she had taken a Ganesha idol and copy of Bhagavat Gita to space.”

Sunita Williams at KLF 2026
The ninth edition of the Kerala Literature Festival (KLF 2026) opened on Thursday, January 22, with Sunita Williams inaugurating the four-day global literary gathering. Williams and Tourism Minister PA Mohamed Riyas jointly inaugurated the festival. The function was attended by Tamil Nadu IT Minister Palanivel Thiaga Rajan, former MLA A Pradeep Kumar, poet and festival director K Satchidanandan, actors Prakash Raj and Bhavana.During her address at the KLF, Williams said that science and spirituality go hand-in-hand.
