National Film Awards

The industry bagged nine national awards, excluding that of a special mention for being the most film friendly state. While Mammootty-starrer
Pathemari clinched the award for the Best Film (Malayalam) category, VK Prakash’s
Nirnayakam and Dr Biju’s
Valiya Chirakulla Pakshikal
was chosen for best film on social and environmental issues respectively.
Actor
Jayasurya also received a special mention for his performances in his movies
Su..Su..Sudhi Vathmeekam and
