Actresses who are popular Kannada film singers

Actresses these days are a super-versatile -- they act, they dance, they do their own stunts, and now, loads of them get into recording studios to do their bit in the playback singing department as well. Here's a list of actresses who have sung for Kannada films...

Nithya Menen: This talented actress is also a popular singer. Though she has done several films in Malayalam, the first song she sung for a movie was Payasa from the Kannada film Aidondla Aidu. She has since sung for several Malayalam, Tamil and Telugu films. The other Kannada song she was a part of was the duet Modala Maleyante from Myna. The song was composed by Jassie Gift.

Shruti Haasan: Before she entered the film industry, Shruti Haasan was already a force to be reckoned with in the music industry. In fact, she was one of the first contemporary actresses to lend her voice to a Kannada film. The song in question was Nenapidu Nenapidu, which she sang for Karthik. The track was composed by Manikanth Kadri.

Priya Mani: This National Award-winning actress isn't satisfied with wowing people with her acting chops. She wants to impress Kannada film-goers with her voice too. She recorded a song for Akul Balaji's film Devravne Bidu Guru. The film is still under production.

Meghana Raj: This popular actress has also made an impression in the recording studio. She has sung one Kannada song -- Simple Preeti for Bahuparak. The duet, which was composed by Suni, also featured actor Srinagara Kitty as the male voice. Meghana also sang Pacha Manja for the Malayalam film 100 Degree Celsius.

Kaajal Aggarwal: The actress, who is well known in the Telugu film industry as an actress, did a stint in playback singing for the first time for the Kannada film Chakravyuha. She sung a duet titled Yenaithu with Puneeth Rajkumar, who played the film's main lead. Incidentally, Puneeth himself is a popular choice for playback singing in Sandalwood. The track was composed by SS Thaman and the lyrics were by Kaviraj.

Aishani Shetty: This is another actress who has sung a song with Puneeth Rajkumar. The film in question is Rocket, which starred Aishani and Sathish Ninasam. The song was Thannage Idvi, which also had Harry as a third singer. The soundtrack of the movie was composed by Poornachandra Tejaswi. The lyrics for the song were writtem by Hariparak.
