Veena Malik watches her film in Bangalore

Silk Sakkath Hot finally saw a release today amidst several controversies surrounding it. The film, which has Pakistani actress Veena Malik in the lead role, is said to be a rumoured biopic on the south siren Silk Smitha.
With steamy stills from the film doing the rounds on social media, and Veena allegedly being paid Rs 1 crore for the film (highest paid actor in the Kannada film industry) -- the film created quite a buzz.After several delays, the film finally saw the light of the day with Silk ... releasing in over 50 theatres that usually doesn't screen Kannada films. Actress Veena, who came Bangalore a couple of days ago for the promotional tour, seemed elated after watching her film. "First day first show....watched SILK in Asia's biggest theatre 1480 seater....houseful," she posted on her micro-blogging webpage.
Veena plays the role of Vijaylakshmi in the film, while Akshay plays Shiva, a character with negative shade in the film. The story revolves around a girl, who enters the film industry due to family problems. But once she becomes a star, she has other issues to face. How she overcomes them forms the crux of the story.
When contacted Akshay, who is currently touring the city theatres, said, "Veena and the team of Silk Sakkath Hot just saw the film in Kapali theatre. She was very excited to see such a big crowd for the film. Veena liked the film a lot and is quite overwhelmed to see so many fans." He further added, "We will be going to Mysore and Hubli tomorrow for press meet."
