After all those controversies and delays, Pakistani actress Veena Malik's debut film in Kannada - Silk Sakkath Hot - is finally hitting the screens on August 2. The film, which is rumoured to be a biopic on south siren Silk Smitha, has Veena playing the role of Silk in the film. Actor
Akshay plays the male lead in the flick, which is directed by
Trishul.
The film first hogged the limelight for its steamy photos that were doing the rounds on the social media.
Later the title, which was then called
Dirty Picture: Silk Sakkath Hot Maga landed in trouble with makers of the Hindi version - The Dirty Picture - which had
Emraan Hashmi and
Vidya Balan in the lead. With producer
Ekta Kapoor registering a case for in order to change the title, the makers of the Kannada film finally agreed to change the title, paving a way for the film's release.
The film was shot mostly in and around Karnataka. The songs were shot abroad, with the team shooting some songs recently in Pattaya. Actor Akshay, who spoke to TOI recently, said, "The first half has high glamour content and the second half is going to be serious. It was a challenging role and Veena has performed very well. We hope Kannada audiences like it."
The actress, who was rumoured to be paid around a Rs 1 crore for the film, is also said to be present during the film's release.
