In recent times, Bangalore has seen several old and legendary theatres getting demolished, and instead commercial structures have come up. At a time when speculation is rife that Triveni theatre off Kempe Gowda road will also meet the same fate, the new management of the theatre has rubbished the rumour. Moreover, the theatre will retain its original name.New proprietor RS Umesh told mediapersons recently, “It is just a rumour. We want to upgrade the theatre, so that audience can get a better experience while watching films here. We are adding new facilities like new seats, sounds, UFO system, better amenities and a fresh coat of painting to the 50-year-old structure.”
All these years, the 50-year-old theatre is said to have screened several thousands films. Umesh made it clear that the theatre won't be closed during renovation, and Kannada movies will get preference as is the case now.
