​'Kurukshetra' is based on the epic mythological saga

Directed by Naganna, ‘Kurukshetra’ that marks the 50th movie of Challenging Star Darshan, is based on the epic mythological war held in the Mahabharata between the two groups of cousins - the Kauravas, and Pandavas, for the throne of Hastinapura. This movie aims to bring to the big screen the epic battle between 100 Kauravas and 5 Pandavas.

South Indian star to play leading rolls in the film

‘Kurukshetra’ is one of the biggest films in Sandalwood, with every character playing an important role in the narrative. To make a film of epic proportions, the director chose many experienced artists from across South India. While Darshan plays the role of Duryodhana, Crazy Star Ravichandran plays Krishna, Arjun Sarja features as Karan, Nikhil Kumar will play Abhimanyu, and Dinesh Akhtar has been cast as Bhima. The film also features late Rebel star Ambareesh who played the role of Bhishma in the movie. Sneha, Meghana Raj, and Haripriya are also cast in the movie that will have some rather dramatic dialogues which only enhance its narrative.

​Darshan cast as Duryodhan

Challenging Star Darshan will be seen playing the lead role of Duryodhana, the head of the 100 Kauravas in the Mahabharata. This is the first time fans will get to see the star play this mythological role in a magnum opus. Sharing his experience of playing a character he said it was much like ‘Sangolli Rayanna’, but this character demanded him to bring forth traits like arrogance, anger, and cunningness that only made it more challenging and exciting.

​Film set to release across 3000 screens in different languages

‘Kurukshetra’, touted to be one of the most expensive movies in Kannada film history, received a U/A certificate by the Regional Censor Board. The movie is expected to have a wide release in different languages like Kannada, Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, and Malayalam across 3000 screens in India.

Kurukshetra to get a 3D release

'Kurukshetra', which was reportedly made on a budget of more than Rs 100 crores, will be released in both 2D and 3D format. A major portion of the film was shot in Ramoji Film City in Hyderabad. The makers are making sure film lovers across the country will get the best movie experience with this epic by releasing the film in a 3D format.
