Tejaswi’s book on communal harmony is more relevant than ever: Shashank

Literature has been the most inspiring source for filmmakers. Though the concept itself may seem a bit retro, the Daredevil Musthafa team is confident that their film will resonate with the audience of all age-groups even today. The film is based on a short story by renowned writer Poornachandra Tejaswi, Daredevil Musthafa, from the book Abchoorina Post Office, which talks about communal harmony.
“The book is relevant even today because of the way it addresses communal harmony. The story is told in a humorous way, in the typical Tejaswi style,” says director Shashank Soghal, who adds, “As a youngster, I loved Tejaswi’s books and wanted to bring his story to the screen.” The film features Nagbhushan and Poornachandra Mysore.

First fan-funded film
Poornachandra Tejaswi has a cult following across the globe. “Tejaswi’s work has found a new place among younger audiences who are consuming his works in different formats such as ebooks, audiobooks, etc. They have come together to produce this one-of-a-kind fan-funded film. We were able to crowd-source investments from more than 100 fans across the globe,” says the film’s director.
And, a new fan has come on board to present the film - actor Dhananjaya. “I am here as a proud fan of Tejaswi, more than anything else,” he says.
