Ninna Sanihake, which marks the directorial debut of actor
Suraj Gowda and the acting debut of
Dhanya Ramkumar, was scheduled to release this Friday on the auspicious date of Varamahalakshmi. The makers had announced the date after seeing the reduction in COVID cases and the unlocking of theatres. The past week, though, has seen an advancement of the night curfew in entire
Karnataka and the imposition of weekend curfew in certain districts.
This has led to the makers to push their release date.
Suraj shares, "We were keen on releasing the film this week, especially since we had already pushed the date once in April. But, the situation right now is not conducive for us to release the film. The 50% occupancy and the weekend and night curfew will definitely impact our business, especially since we will not be able to have shows in key Kannada speaking cities like Mysuru. We felt it is best that we push the release date and opt for the first available date when we see a slight relaxation of these current restrictions."
The trailer of the film was recently released and it has drawn a favourable response from both the industry persons and fans. "We had fans expressing how they wanted to watch the film and they work in corporate offices where they have work till 6 pm. The night curfew timings make it hard to have later shows. We want our film to reach all those who have expressed interest to watch it. We know that people want a good family entertainer outing so we are prepared to wait it out," he adds.
The songs of the film too have been a hit with film buffs, with them being on the charts ever since they were out. The team is hoping to release the film in the coming weeks, if the situation gets better.
