Director Sathyasiva will retain the character's look as well
Shivamani is the latest Kannada actor who is going places. The director-turned-actor, whose latest role in the hit film Bell Bottom grabbed attention, will be reprising the role in the Tamil remake of the film. Sathyasiva (of Kazhugu fame) is remaking the film in Tamil. Shivamani played Modi Nanjappa, a pragmatic sorcerer in the film. Dinesh Mangalore, who played the role of Seth(u) in Bell Bottom, is also part of the Tamil film.

“I am told that the looks of the character will be retained in the Tamil version. The director felt that it was unique,” said Shivamani. The film has some of the most memorable characters and some of them, including Shivamani’s Modi Nanjappa, have attained cult status of their own. Sujay Shastry’s role of Segani Pinto remains the most popular. This will be Shivamani’s debut in Tamil. He was supposed to direct the remake of his hit Kannada film Jhossh in Tamil, but it was directed by another director later.

For Shivamani, acting is turning out to be a successful venture. “I recently met Anant Nag. He was in my first film along with Devaraj. I hesitantly asked him if he had watched Bell Bottom. He said he had and praised my role. He said I should have taken up acting much earlier. He is a legend and these words of praise from him made my day,” he said.

Shivamani is also gathering offers by the hoard. He will also be seen in Shivarajkumar’s My Name is Anjji and Nagatihalli Chandrashekar’s Love In England.
