The Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department in Karnataka took swift action on August 6, suspending the priest, Mallikarjun Swamy, also known as Malli. The department has ordered an internal investigation to understand the full extent of the incident and to ensure appropriate measures are taken.

Local residents and temple-goers have expressed their anger and disappointment, demanding that the government permanently dismiss the priest from his duties. They believe his actions have disrespected the sanctity of the temple and hurt the sentiments of the devotees.

Meanwhile, the judicial custody of Darshan Thoogudeepa and his associates has been extended until August 11. For those unfamiliar with the case, Darshan was arrested by Bengaluru police on June 11 for his alleged involvement in the murder of Renuka Swamy, a 33-year-old fan.

The incident began when Renuka Swamy reportedly sent derogatory messages to Darshan's co-star and alleged partner, Pavithra Gowda. In response, Darshan allegedly orchestrated Renuka's murder.

The case has drawn significant attention due to Darshan's celebrity status and the shocking nature of the crime.
