'Kantara' wins big with Best Actor and Best Entertaining Film at the National Film Awards

'Kantara', which is one of the blockbusters of Sandalwood, once again made it high with the two new crowns of 'Best Actor' and 'Best Entertaining Film' at the 70th National Film Award. Directed by Rishab Shetty, 'Kantara', is an action thriller film that was released in 2022. The movie stars Rishab Shetty and Kishore in lead roles, and the film was critically acclaimed.


Apart from Karnataka, the film received positive reviews from other regional states as well and won multiple international awards, including the Silver Peacock Special Jury Award at the 54th IFFI Indian Panorama Section. Made with a budget of Rs 15 crore, the film grossed Rs 450 crore at the box office. Today, the film won the Best Entertaining Feature Film award, and actor Rishab Shetty won the National Award as Best Actor. With a cherry on top, the film gets two accolades, and it is a big win for Rishab Shetty as he is also the director of the film.

The film is about the traditional tribal art performer 'Bhoota Kola', who is still prominent in the rural areas of Karnataka. Following the success of the film 'Kantara' in 2022, the Karnataka government initiated a monthly allowance for the Bhoota Kola performer above the age 60.

The makers are now busy with the shooting of the sequel to the film 'Kantara'. Part 2 of the film is a prequel, and director Rishab Shetty has sought permission from the god Panjurli, and it is titled 'Kantara: Chapter 1'. The first look at the film was released in November 2023, and the shooting is under way. The film is likely to be released by the end of this year or early next year.
