I’m glad audiences focused on my performance, not skin tone: Ashwini Ambrish

Actor Ashwini Ambrish is having a rollicking start to her career as her debut flick, Bheema, was well received by audiences. "It's a dream beginning that I never expected as a newcomer. The messages I am getting on social media as well as even from Tail audiences are an invaluable gift, which has left me in awe," she tells us.Apparently, Ashwini was sceptical of becoming a female lead in Kannada cinema because of her dusky complexion. "I was anxious about how our film industry would accept me, but once the movie released, that doubt was put to rest. I believe movie-goers focused only on my performance, and not my skin tone. This gave me the confidence that I belong to the world of entertainment and that I am in for a long career. Now, I feel had the wrong perception about being an outsider, but people here are ready to welcome and nurture new talents. I hope to portray more such roles that drive the story forward," she says.
