If Lucia clicks, it ll be a breakthrough in Kannada cinema

Actress Sruti Hariharan, who started out in the film industry initially as an assiatant choreographer, went on to do films in Kannada and Malayalam films. She has three Kannada releases this year including the much talked about, Lucia. Talking about how she bagged the role in the film, Sruti says, “When I heard Pawan Kumar was auditioning for Lucia, I went for the audition which went very badly.But, strangely, Pawan called me and explained what Lucia was all about.”
Sruti believes that Pawan is not the usual core Kannada film industry man. She says, “I thought Lucia was another independent film and I don’t think even Pawan thought it would go commercial then. He was talking about the DVD and online release and he also said it may or may not work on the big screen.”
Talking about crowd-funding, Sruti says, “These platforms have existed for a while now, but I think it is pretty much because of Pawan and the way he has taken it forward that will change the way independent Kannada films will be made in the coming times. If the film clicks, it will be breakthrough.”
